D. B. Cooper
D. B. Cooper was an unidentified man who hijacked a Boeing 727 on November 24, 1971, demanding $200,000 and four parachutes before parachuting from the plane over Southwest Washington and disappearing. After releasing passengers in Seattle and receiving the ransom, he directed the plane to take off again and then jumped mid-flight, never to be seen again. The FBI investigated the case for 45 years before suspending its active search in 2016, though the case remains unsolved and has inspired widespread speculation and aviation security reforms.
