Two persons were killed in a hit-and-run accident on the six-lane Tirupati–Bengaluru National Highway near Chigarapalli village in Irala mandal, about 15 km from Chittoor, on Friday morning.According to the Irala police, the deceased were identified as Sudha (45) and Chandu (30), both residents of Egava Palakuru. Sudha was on her way to Chittoor to visit her son, who was undergoing treatment at the Government Hospital, and Chandu had accompanied her.As the two were walking along the highway to board a share auto, an unidentified speeding vehicle allegedly rammed into them and fled the scene.The impact killed Chandu on the spot, while Sudha sustained multiple fractures and other grievous injuries.
