This Treatment Could Reverse Osteoarthritis Joint Damage With a Single Injection
Osteoarthritis, a degenerative joint disease affecting millions, currently has no cure, but researchers at the University of Colorado Boulder are developing an experimental therapy funded by ARPA-H's NITRO project that aims to reverse joint damage through regenerative injection treatments. The therapy uses controlled drug delivery and biomaterial scaffolds to stimulate the body's own cells to repair cartilage and bone damage, showing promising results in animal studies and human cell samples. While the treatment has not yet been tested in clinical trials, the team plans to publish findings and advance toward human testing and commercialization through their startup, Renovare Therapeutics.
