The Walking Dead popularized the format with The Talking Dead, which led to Breaking Bad‘s Talking Bad, Better Call Saul‘s Talking Saul, Game of Thrones‘ After the Thrones, Star Trek: Discovery‘s After the Trek… you get it. What all of these series have in common—besides a stunning lack of originality in their names that I’m certain their respective networks thought was trendy and referential rather than a grim indictment of the state of television as content and commodity—is that they all died out over a decade ago.
