For a minute, television series aftershows were all the rage. The Walking Dead popularized the format with The Talking Dead, which led to Breaking Bad‘s Talking Bad, Better Call Saul‘s Talking Saul, Game of Thrones‘ After the Thrones, Star Trek: Discovery‘s After the Trek… you get it. What all of these series have in common—besides a stunning lack of originality in their names that I’m certain their respective networks thought was trendy and referential rather than a grim indictment of the state of television as content and commodity—is that they all died out over a decade ago.
