Katy Chevigny's narrative feature debut "The Easy Kind," starring country singer Elizabeth Cook as a fictionalized version of herself, has been acquired by Persimmon Pictures and will begin an Oscar-qualifying theatrical run at the IFC Center on June 3 before a wider release. The film, inspired by Cook's 2016 Nashville residency, follows an artist navigating midlife and an unyielding music industry. Cook contributes the original song "The Easy Kind," which will be campaigned for Best Original Song at the upcoming Academy Awards. The supporting cast includes Susie Essman, David Letterman, Karen Allen, Charles Esten, Melissa Jackson, and Catherine Curtin.
