The US Commerce Department last week directed several chip equipment suppliers to stop certain shipments to Hua Hong, China's second-largest semiconductor manufacturer, according to sources. The move is part of broader US export controls aimed at restricting China's advanced chip production capabilities. Hua Hong has not yet commented on the restrictions. The affected equipment companies were not named in the report.
