Revealed: UK education and health aid to plummet by up to 72% into 2027
UK aid for education and health in developing countries is set to drop by up to 72% between 2024–25 and 2026–27, falling from £1.54bn to £433m, according to an analysis of Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) data. The funding is projected to partially recover by 2028–29 but will still remain 20% below 2024–25 levels in cash terms. The reorganisation of aid budgets into a single 'Human Development' directorate has made it difficult to track specific cuts to individual sectors.
