Property tax rebate extended by a month, till May 31

In what could offer relief to property owners, the State government has extended the 5% property tax rebate till May 31, giving taxpayers an additional month to clear their dues. The extension is expected to benefit nearly 25 lakh properties across the five city corporations under the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA).This comes after apartment residents, including the Bangalore Apartment Federation (BAF), raised concerns over confusion in the payment process. Residents had flagged confusion over rules in certain categories, particularly those linked to bulk waste generators, which had led to delays and compliance issues. Earlier this month, GBA chief commissioner M. Maheshwar Rao had also said that steps would be taken to simplify the property tax payment process.
