Sampath, 56, of Rajagiri, died in a road accident at Vaiyacheri on Thanjavur-Vikiravandi Road on the outskirts of Thanjavur on Sunday.According to sources, the incident took place around 10 p.m. when the deceased was heading to his residence on his motorcycle from Thanjavur, where he was employed as a driver in a private ambulance service agency. He fell down from the vehicle following a collision with a pedestrian who crossed the highway suddenly.While Sampath died on the spot, the pedestrian identified as Natarasan, 35, of Vaiyacheri sustained injuries and was rushed to Government Hospital at Ayyampettai.
