Perarivalan, Rajiv Gandhi assassination case convict let out on remission, becomes a lawyer
A.G. Perarivalan, convicted in the 1991 Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, was released on remission in 2022 and has now been enrolled as an advocate to practice at the Madras High Court. The Supreme Court had ordered his release using its powers under Article 142 of the Constitution. Perarivalan, after spending over three decades in prison, formally joined the legal profession on April 27, 2026. His enrollment was carried out by the Bar Association of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
