New Orleans sheriff indicted on 30 counts just days before term ends
New Orleans Sheriff Susan Hutson was indicted on 30 counts including malfeasance and obstruction of justice just days before leaving office, following a 2025 mass jailbreak and allegations of financial misconduct. The indictment, brought by Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill, also includes charges against Hutson's chief financial officer, Bianka Brown, who faces 20 felony counts. Hutson's term, which began with promises of reform, ends amid controversy and will be succeeded by Michelle Woodfork.
