Hey yall, I just saw brokeback mountain for the first time. I also just learned that it didnt win best picture but it was saved in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant". I can see why. Besides being emotionally devastated by the film, I realize I've never seen a film that loved and grounded itself in the gorgeous world outside. I cant really explain it.
