LPGA rookie, who almost quit golf to pursue ministry, leads in Mexico
LPGA rookie Melanie Green shot a 6-under 66 to take the lead at the Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba in Mexico, highlighted by her first career ace on the 15th hole at El Camaleón Golf Course. The former Women’s British Amateur champion and 2025 Epson Tour Player of the Year considered leaving golf for Bible school but ultimately decided to pursue both her faith and professional golf. Spain's Carlota Ciganda is one shot behind Green after the opening round.
