I just rewatched the Goo Goo Dolls performing “Iris” live in Buffalo in the pouring rain, and it got me thinking about performances that had everything working against them but still became legendary. That kind of downpour is about the worst-case scenario for an outdoor show for any band, new or veteran. It can mess with vocals, instruments, timing, everything.
