Investing in startups via crowdfunding - is it worth it?

Hey I am new to startupinvesting. I have a holding company and some ideal cash right there and was thinking to use platforms like Republic (am in france ) to invest in some early stage startup. Maybe like 5-10k? I need to know if it is worth it? Or is it a lot of work post investing? My understanding is that I can have 1-2% stake in that amount in serious startups and if not through such paltforms, even more stake in tiny companies. anyone can share some experience with me?
