The Pentagon is reportedly concerned about the defection of Harvard brain researcher Richard Lieber to China, where he has established a new neuroscience research center in Shenzhen focused on brain-computer interface technology. Lieber, previously convicted for concealing payments from China, now leads the 'I-Brain' center with extensive resources, including space for 2,000 primates and advanced chip manufacturing capabilities. While Lieber claims his mission is to treat degenerative brain diseases, U.S. officials fear the research could be used to develop enhanced 'super soldiers' for China's military.
