Fair enough: the ring is both a weapon and badge of authority for the DC Universe's corps of space cops. I frigging loved it. It took me back to my favorite run of the series, when it was relaunched in the 1990s. In the early issues of volume three, Hal Jordan had returned to hitchhiking across America, trying to use the ring as little as possible, in an attempt to reconnect with the man he used to be. For a teen trying to sort out his hormone-driven bullshit, it was powerful stuff.
