A gunman was apprehended by law enforcement near a security checkpoint at the Washington Hilton during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on April 25, 2026. The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Cole Tomas Allen, did not enter the ballroom where President Trump and hundreds of guests were dining. He was carrying a shotgun, handgun, and knives, and reportedly fired at least once, though no guests were struck. The suspect was tackled and taken into custody without being shot, while a Secret Service officer was struck by gunfire but is in good condition.
