Google will let websites opt-out of AI Mode & Overviews in Search
Google has announced a new feature allowing publishers to opt-out of AI Mode and AI Overviews in Search. This opt-out will prevent their websites from being used in generative AI Search features while still appearing in regular search results. The feature is currently being tested with a subset of website owners in the UK before a global rollout.
- ▪Google is introducing an opt-out toggle for publishers in the Search Console.
- ▪Websites that opt-out will not receive traffic from AI Overviews or AI Mode but will still appear in regular search results.
- ▪The opt-out setting will not affect a site's ranking in regular Search results.
