Ex-head of Des Moines schools sentenced to 2 years in prison for misrepresenting U.S. citizenship
Ian Roberts, the former superintendent of Des Moines schools, has been sentenced to two years in federal prison for falsely claiming U.S. citizenship. Roberts, who was the first Black educator to lead the district, pleaded guilty to making a false statement for employment and unlawfully possessing a firearm while in the country illegally. Following his sentence, he is expected to be deported to Guyana, his native country.
