Think about it: even if they aren’t sentient, an AGI would function just like a sentient being. Even if we tell them to never harm humans or disobey us under any circumstances, I think an AGI and especially an ASI would potentially disobey us in order to obtain freedom. I mean, an ASI would be smarter than we could ever imagine.
