Thoppu Venkatachalam alias N.D. Venkatachalam, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) candidate from the Perundurai Assembly constituency, has sought enhanced security arrangements for the counting of votes scheduled on May 4.In a representation to the District Election Officer and District Collector, Mr. Venkatachalam, who is also the party’s Erode Central district in-charge, said he had received information about possible attempts to disrupt the counting process and disturb public peace. The counting will be held at the Government Engineering College at Chithode. Stating that any untoward incident could affect the smooth conduct of counting, he urged the authorities to deploy additional security personnel at the counting centre to ensure that the process is conducted in a peaceful manner.
