The Greater Chennai Police arrested 133 history-sheeters involved in criminal cases and 133 persons involved in the smuggling of drugs, in a sweeping operation to curb the distribution of narcotics and prevent clashes between gangs. A senior police official said that in the wake of the double murder case near Manimangalam, City Police Commissioner Abin Dinesh Modak organised a meeting of top officials from the 12 police districts, and four Zonal Prohibition Enforcement Wings, to prevent the supply of narcotic substances.The police have also made preventive arrests of 101 history-sheeters.During the operation, the police officials seized 21.40 kilograms of ganja and 1,070 narcotic pills.
