The Cuddalore New Town police on Sunday booked a case against V. Ponraj, scientific advisor to former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, on charges of making derogatory remarks against women who support Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).Police said Mr. Ponraj, had spoken in a derogatory manner against women in an interview to a Tamil YouTube channel.Based on a complaint lodged by B. Rajkumar, district secretary of the TVK, the Police booked a case against Mr. Ponraj under Sections 79, 353 (2) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita read with Section 4 of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women (TNPHW) Act, read with Section 67 of Information Technology Act.
