The body of a 16-year-old boy who was dragged into the sea by strong waves in Marina Beach, washed ashore near the Harbour Beach on Monday. The police recovered the body and sent it to the Government Royapettah Hospital for post-mortem examination.The victim was identified as G. Sudarshan from Avadi studying in 11th grade. Police sources said Sudarshan and his younger brother Kamalesh had gone to Marina Beach on Friday. Around 6 p.m., the brothers were bathing in the sea behind the Kannagi statue when Sudarshan was caught in the strong waves. Following a complaint lodged by the boy’s family at the Marina Police Station, a special police team led by the inspector launched an intensive search operation with the help of local fishermen and volunteer rescue teams using boats.
