A’s first baseman breaks one of Barry Bonds’ modern records
Athletics first baseman Nick Kurtz broke Barry Bonds' modern-era record for consecutive games with a walk, reaching base via walk in his 19th straight game during a matchup against the Royals in Sacramento. Kurtz surpassed Bonds' 2002 record of 18 consecutive games, though Bonds still holds the overall single-season and career walk records. While Kurtz has shown offensive production during the streak, he has also struck out more than Bonds did during his comparable run.
